Harris County 4-H Council
Harris County 4-H Council is a county level opportunity for 4-Hers to develop leadership skills, to hold a county level position of leadership, and to practice parliamentary procedure. Council also provides them a chance to make important decisions which will affect all 4-H clubs and to experience community service at a higher level. Council officers and members make decisions and plan various county activities and work on committees. Special training in leadership is provided. Officers are elected in July by the members. Council operates with bylaws.
County 4-H Council is composed of two 4-H members from each 4-H club, and they serve as voting delegates on behalf of their respective clubs. Any 4-Her may attend Council meetings, but when voting is done, the official 2 voting delegates serve as the club representatives. Council has 4 business meetings a year. The meetings are held the fourth Thursday of the month in January, April, July, & September.
